The Las Vegas development era

Rooms revenue at MGM Grand and Wynn, and the transaction discipline of CityCenter.

Las Vegas taught me the revenue side of the business at its highest level. At MGM Grand Hotel & Casino Las Vegas I was a Sales Representative in the Rooms Division, handling guest reservations and service inquiries while identifying opportunities to increase revenue through upselling and cross-selling.

Between those rooms-division years, from 2006 to 2009, I served as Sales Contract Administrator for CityCenter at MGM Resorts International — the approximately $9.2B MGM and Dubai World development I have written about separately, because it deserves its own story.

At Wynn Las Vegas, as a Sales Representative in the Rooms Division, I managed high-volume guest interactions while identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities to maximize room and service revenue. Three of the great names on the Strip, three different views of the same business: the guest, the contract, and the asset.

That era closed the loop for me. Research had shown me the market, operations had shown me the property, and Las Vegas showed me the deal. Everything since has been built on all three.
